Yesterday november 19 at 5:29pm local time, Fr. Josep Abella landed to Japan. After 24 years at the service of the Congregation in the General Government he returned to our East Asia Delegation to continue his missionary life. According to Fr. Takenobu who went to the airport to fetch him, these were his first words: "todo ha ido normal... ya he tenido bastante sabático en Lleida, me gustaria estar en algun lugar donde haya gente para volver a recordar el idioma japones... pero en general estoy dispuesto a ser enviado a cualquier lugar de Japon... alli donde se me necesite y que este dentro de mis posibilidades..." [everything has been fine... I took enough rest and Sabbatical at Lleida. I am ready to mingle with people, so that I can recover my japanese language proficiency...I am open to be sent anywhere in Japan...where I can be of help and I am able to work].
In the picture below, we can see him, together with Fr. Yoon, during morning mass in Imaichi Parish.
Fr Abella has been assigned provisionally to the community in Imaichi. During the next council meeting the Delegation will plan for the appointments for the next three years; then Fr. Josep Abella, as well as the rest of the Japan members, will receive his final appointment.
