Cerezo 1024 209 1024x209

In the website of the Claretian Spirituality Center (CESC) there is a space to give a voice to the many people who met with Saint Anthony Mary Claret throughout their lives, Claretian Missionaries, Religious Sisters of Mary Immaculate, Lay Claretians and many others who do not belong to any specific religious group but also experienced a personal and close encounter with Claret.

Here is the testimony from our East Asia brother Alberto Rossa, presently assigned to Mui Wo, Hong Kong.

2017 East Asia Delegation Assembly

DSC 0091From October 3 to 6 the claretians from East Asia Delegation gathered in the the Choc Van Center in Macao to hold their Assembly. 26 claretians working in Japan, Taiwan, Macao, Hong Kong and China met to share their life and mission. It was a time for coming together as one family under the same Spirit of our Founder, St. Anthony Mary Claret. The atmosphere of the meeting was pleasant and it was a fruitful time for evaluation, discussion and sharing based on the present situation of our Delegation, especially in the light of the last XXV General Chapter and the letter of the General: Called to Radiate the Joy of the Gospel. All the participants were actively involved in all the sessions throughout these 4 days of get-together. It was a great opportunity to reflect on and review as a community the various ministries of our Delegation in these regions. The sharing session on the Church in Mainland China by the Nuncio, Msgr. Ante Jozic helped us to better understand the possibilities and the challenges of the China Mission for the Congregation. Some of the friends and collaborators of Claretians in Macao came to share with the Assembly participants their “Candlelight” ministry. There was also a moment of joyous celebration, as the Assembly joined Macao’s community celebration of the feast of Father Claret, the beatification of our 109 Martyrs, and the Golden Jubilee of the Ordination of Fr. Mario Bonfaini with a solemn Eucharistic celebration at St. Lawrence Church on 5 October followed by a reception dinner with over 300 guests. We concluded the celebration of our Delegation Assembly on October 6 look forward to our next Delegation Assembly to be held in 2021 in Hong Kong.

AEYG 2017+CF

4579From August 1-7, 2017, the Claretian youth of Taiwan (EAD) attended AEYG 2017+CF in Yogyakarta, Indonesia under the theme “Be Witnesses and Messengers of the Joy of the Gospel in Diversity.” This theme was in fact the continuation of the theme of the first AEYG-2015 “Meet Him in the Cloud”. Encountering God in the Cloud in 2015 inspired many young people to become the Witnesses and messengers of the joy of the Gospel in the diversity of the Asian Context. Seven participants from Taiwan attended the youth gathering in Yogyakarta. In spite of the language barriers and cultural differences, the enthusiasm and energy that emerged during the encounter really united the whole group into a clan of young people walking in the same road witnessing the joy of the Gospel in diversity.

School of the Heart of Mary (Phase 2 Barbastro) II

IMAG1273It was quite providential to meet two of the eye witnesses of our elder brothers on their way to martyrdom. They were Francisco Cece and Ricardo. Ricardo lived very close to our seminary and he still remembers that he saw his mother looking outside through the upper window and crying. As a child he was curious to see the sight that made his mother cry. It was heartbreaking for him as a child to see the Claretian missionaries captured and taken in custody by the anarchist and they were taken to Piarist Auditorium. Francisco Cece (93 years old now) and his family lived in Barcelona till 1935. In 1936 they came to Barbastro and settled near to the town hall. In those days it was common for the children to play in the streets. As he was playing together with his other companions he saw Luis Masferrer cmf who was his catechism teacher together with others were taken to Piarist School where he studied. He followed them in distance as child because he did not understand the seriousness of what is happening; but he was sad to see his catechism teacher is taken in custody by the anarchist. Fr. Santiago Mompel (Piarist) was his class teacher who later tells about Claretians. He was the Chronicler of their congregation who wrote in the Chronicle telling that he saw twenty Claretians were taken for execution from the Piarist school to a place three kilometers away from the school, and he could hear exactly twenty gun shots which he testifies that it was the execution of twenty Claretian brothers.

At the Heart of Mary (II)

DSC 0739It was also my dream to visit the small chapel at Fussimanya where Little Claret often visited with her sister Rosa praying the rosary (Aut. No. 49). Claret’s devotion to Our Lady of Fussimanya was so amazing and he always felt emotional being with her. I could feel the tenderness of being close to this mother and offering myself telling “Mother here is your son”. I believe that it is in the contemplation of Mary at Fussimanya Claret found the powerful inspiration to follow Jesus and to generously dedicate himself to his apostolic ministry.
